Shots – 10 in all – were fired in a residential neighborhood in Jefferson Sunday night. No one was injured, but two tires were flattened. Arrest warrants have been issued for two males in connection with the incident.
According to the Jefferson police report, numerous callers advised of gun shots at 9:15 pm in the 100 block of S. Pinet St. Officers and sheriff’s deputies responded and spoke to a group of subjects in the area.
Officers were told that two males had given a female a ride from Coon Rapids to Jefferson. They dropped the female off at a residence in the 500 block of W. Lincoln Way. As they did that, an argument ensued between the two male occupants and persons in the group of subjects.
The male passenger in the vehicle pointed a handgun at two subjects in the group. A male from the group punched and broke out the passenger side window of the vehicle. The male subject then fired five rounds from the firearm into the air.
The vehicle then left southbound on S. Walnut St. As the vehicle approached W. Harrison St, one block south, the subject fired five more rounds back towards the group.
No one was struck by the rounds, but both driver’s side tires on a vehicle parked on Pinet St were flattened.
Officers sent out an “attempt to locate” on the suspect vehicle and began to interview witnesses. The interviews allowed officers to develop two suspects. Officers removed 10 spent 9mm rounds and other evidence from the scene.
It was then learned that Coon Rapids police had taken a report of a stolen 9mm handgun in Coon Rapids shortly before the incident took place.
The lead investigating officer has requested arrest warrants for Jake Allen Cretsinger, 19, and Adam James Stilson, 19, both of Waukee, on charges of intimidation with a dangerous weapon (Class C felony), harassment- first degree, reckless use of firearm, and criminal mischief- third degree (all aggravated misdemeanors), and disorderly conduct (simple misdemeanor)*.
